For over 30 years I have worked as a vocal coach and musical director in the show business industry, and for the past 15 years I have run my own highly successful company in that field. One of the benefits of having your own business is that you can decide when you want to go away on holiday and for how long. We are away on a regular basis several times a year, sometimes for as long as a month at a time which is why we couldn’t decide whether or not to have a dog as we didn’t want to put it in kennels. Thanks to our great network of friends and neighbours who live in the vicinity, it hasn’t normally been a problem to ask someone to keep an eye on our property but when we decided to get a puppy that all changed. I was always worried that if we were going to be away for any significant length of time, there was nobody actually in the house which gives rise to security issues and having to pay very expensive kennel fees meant the cost of our holidays were going up dramatically. In addition, as we discovered, many insurance companies will not cover your home if it is left unoccupied for more than 30 days.
It soon became apparent from talking to friends and family that they too had the same concerns, especially those with pets who don’t like putting them in kennels and catteries. This gave me the idea to set up a new global venture which would bring together home/pet owners and house/pet sitters.
Thus Professional House Sitters was born.
